Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use VoIP on my smartphone?
Yes. All you need to do is install a softphone app (such as Zoiper, Grandstream Wave, or Mizudroid) and enter your SIP account credentials. It works over both Wi-Fi and cellular data.
What kind of internet connection is needed for stable calls?
VoIP doesn’t require high speeds, but it does require stability. A single call uses approximately 80–100 kbps (G.711 codec). The key parameters are ping (below 50 ms) and jitter (below 30 ms).
Can I send text messages using my own name instead of my phone number?
Yes, this is what is known as the Alphanumeric Sender Field. The name can be up to 11 characters long. Please note that we require prior registration and verification of such a name.
What is a codec, and which one should I choose?
The codec determines audio quality and data usage.
G.711 (PCMA/PCMU): Highest quality, the standard for landline telephony.
G.729: High compression, ideal for slow internet connections.
G.722: HD quality (if both parties support it).
Common Problems
Connection issues
Cause: The device cannot connect to the server.
Solution: * Check that the SIP server (Registrar) address is entered correctly.
Make sure your firewall/router is not blocking UDP port 5060.
Restart your router and VoIP device.
No sound during a call
Cause: A common NAT issue on the router. The audio (RTP protocol) gets “lost” on the way back.
Solution: * Enable the STUN Server option (use: stun.1.google.com:19302).
Enable the Keep-alive feature in your account settings (set the interval to 20–30 seconds).
Disable the SIP ALG feature in your router settings (this is the most common culprit!).
I can't make calls even though the app is registered
Cause: Incorrect login credentials or IP block.
Solution: * Double-check your username and password (note that your SIP username is often different from your customer portal username).
